Adwoa Boakyewaa Amoah

(b.1977)
Adwoah Amoah is a Ghanaian artist who lives and works in Accra. She received her BFA in Painting at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science in 2003. Other education includes: A certificate on “How to Start and Manage Small Scale Business”, A “Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing Ghana Institute of Journalism” and French education from Alliance Francaise in Accra, Ghana.

Adwoa employs the technique of incorporating photographs and other materials into her subjects, meticulously building heavy dark colours to capture existing notions of placement and displacement whiles confronting her place as a woman in her society.

Her work has been reviewed in A&U, America Aids Magazine, Sunday world,  and exhibited at the Dei Centre.
